ICDB CONFRENCE WEBSITE

We are thrilled The Antara Foundation (TAF) presented three posters at the International Conference on Birth Defects and Disabilities in the Developing World (ICBD) 2023, held from March 1st-4th in Santiago, Chile. The theme of the 2023 edition of the conference is Accelerating Action for Birth Defects and Disabilities: Surveillance, Prevention, Diagnosis, Management and Family-Centered Care.

At The Antara Foundation, we are currently working across 8 districts in rural Madhya Pradesh. As part of our health interventions, we work with Community Health Workers (CHWs) within the public health system to facilitate equitable, sustainable, and scalable solutions on Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN) outcomes. Our organization prioritizes timely service delivery along the continuum of care contributing towards improved prevention, management, and surveillance of birth defects.

TAF showcased three of our interventions which aid community health workers (CHWs) in providing services to vulnerable tribal populations in Madhya Pradesh. These are:

AAA PLATFORM

The AAA platform, which ensures comprehensive services along the continuum of care contributing to the timely identification of pregnant women and facilitating quality antenatal care for them as a step towards preventing birth defects

CAPACITY BUILDING OF HEALTH WORKERS

The AAA platform, which ensures comprehensive services along the continuum of care contributing to the timely identification of pregnant women and facilitating quality antenatal care for them as a step towards preventing birth defects

QUALITY CARE AT THE DOORSTEP

Improving the quality of home-based newborn care visits by CHWs by identifying points at which CHWs require capacity building and on-field handholding to improve the level of services provided during these visits

“The best solutions to complex problems often come from those closest to the issues.”
