Quality data is critical to ensure complete service coverage and efficient decision-making. The central ethos of the Rationalization of registers intervention is to achieve just that. We work with frontline health workers and their supervisors to design simplified data capture tools to improve the execution of their core duties.

We successfully scaled up rationalised registers for ANMs across Rajasthan in 2017 and the ASHA diary in Madhya Pradesh in 2020. These tools brought forth four fundamental changes to the existing data capture tools –

• A complete record of important data on target community members

• Smarter design elements to reduce human error

• Systematization of different data groups based on the life cycle of beneficiaries

• Technical content to improve knowledge of critical topics

“The best solutions to complex problems often come from those closest to the issues.”
